Fellow Tea Party Patriots and Common Sense Citizens:
As most of you know, the yellow Gadsden 'Don't Tread on Me' rattlesnake flag is a popular symbol of American liberty. This early flag of our nation embodies a classic American symbol, dating back to at least 1751, expressing American defiance to government intrusion and meddling. Although it was later supplanted by the 'Stars and Stripes' after the Revolutionary War, Americans have always had an affinity for the earlier flag and its defiant message.
As you may be aware, some Texans wearing or displaying likenesses of this early American flag are being turned away from the polls in early voting if they refuse to submit and remove the flag from their person. As set forth below, the legal rationale for this practice is not particularly clear...

Congratulations from the Texas TEA Party Alliance to all of those candidates above that won their respective races!!
And though Pastor Stephen Broden unfortunately did not win his race, we do wish to congratulate him on the invaluable impact that he has had on the City of Dallas, Dallas County, North Texas, Texas, and the nation as a whole by virtue of his running!! We are a far better State and nation for your having passionately expressed so well your beliefs about the role of government and the duties and responsibilities of our elected representatives in fulfilling that role. We stand ready to support you should you elect to run again in 2012!!
As much as we wish to congratulate those candidates that won their races, we also wish to caution you. The TTPA and our affiliate organizations will be observing to verify that your actions do adhere to the five guiding principles of the TEA Party:
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Limited Government
- Personal Responsibility
- Rule of Law (in accord with the Constitution as written, not interpreted)
- Sovereignty of the United States and of the individual States
While in the past elected representatives might have been able to be somewhat cavalier in fulfilling their promises and responsibilities to their constituents due to a general apathy/lack of interest/malaise, such is not the case now. As this election has shown, the electorate has been awakened, is angry, and will be watching as you execute the duties entrusted to you. So will the TTPA and its affiliates.
To our members and affiliates:
While the level of activity associated with vetting the candidates in selected races has subsided, the real work now begins: Continuously watching!!
If you wish to participate in our Legislative Watch Program, please indicate your interest in an e-mail to: TTPA Legislative Watch Program at info@ttpa.us. Information on the program, including training, will be forwarded to you.
Now… Let’s Build for 2012!!
